As the first tablet shipped with the WebOS, maybe this tablet comes with big ambition. Perhaps, HP wants to use this set to challenge the hot Android tablets and iPad.

Its new WebOS has attracted some attention of the users for this device. Based on WebOS, it includes QUALCOMM Snapdragon dual core processor with 1.2 GHz and 1G RAM. The exclusive operation system has enhanced its multi-tasks functions. With quite impressive configuration, this device works quite well in the process speed. There are 16GB, 32GB and 16GB WiFi three versions for users to choose from.

The 9.7-inch display with 1024×768 Nominal Resolution, its picture quality is competitive to the iPad 2 and excellent Android tablets. The capacitive touch screen provides users the similar web browning experience to the iPad 2. The high level color, brightness and contrast are not weaker than iPad 2. As a common problem of most of the current tablets, this device may not be suitable to use in the outdoor under the sun for its high reflective glass.

Size-wise, the weight and size is a disappointing point for many users. The thickness measure 13 mm. thus this device has a relatively bigger bulk, which have greatly weakened its portability. It is much trying to grip with one hand. For the users who want to use it during travelling or frequent move, this machine is not a proper choice. Its overall black outlook is also a little bit commonplace, which can now manifest its ambition to compete with the Android tablets and iPad 2.

In the current market, many tablets come with two cameras. But HP TouchPad is only equipped with one front facing camera. As almost all the rear facing cameras have left something to be desired on the aspect of resolution. Only one front facing camera does not matter too much. It has chosen a 1.3 megapixel model camera. Its effect can only be average. If users have high requirement on the camera functions, this device may not meet the needs.

In term of the running time, the company acclaims that it supports nine hours of running with video playback. In fact, it is able to run close to 8 hour and 20 minutes with the wifi network. For normal users this is enough, although it falls short of Apple’s iPad 2 and some flagship products of other brands. Now this product has not been released yet. Whether it is competitive to Android tablets or Apple’s products, it is hard to make a conclusion.
